PUBLIC COMMENT

Jim Petell commented that he hoped there is a joint concern regarding the water resources.  Mr. Petell said this meeting should be attended by more than are present.

Charlotte LeVar commented that there is an Environmental Protection Agency Workshop concerning Air Quality on July 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center.

DISCUSSION, ACTION AND DECISION AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION TO REVIEW THE FINDINGS CONTAINED IN THE DRAFT NYE COUNTY WATER RESOURCES PLAN.  THE PLAN WILL BE MODIFIED BASED ON THE ISSUES RAISED AND THEN SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR ADOPTION.  THE ADOPTION PROCESS WILL INCLUDE TWO FORMAL PUBLIC HEARINGS.

Dave Swanson started out and stated that the issue of water resources is an extremely important one.  Mr. Swanson said he was dismayed when moving here to find out we had such major issues here that few people seem to appreciate.  Dave Swanson said he was happy to report that the County Commissioners are on a program that will lead solving some of the problems.  Mr. Swanson stated that the Commissioners have given him permission to begin the water resources program in the County.  One of the first elements of the program is to get the water plan adopted.  That is in the process now.  Dave Swanson pointed out that the water plan initiated by Tom Buqo was stated three or four years ago and is a detailed report and is in the process of being reviewed.  The Commissioners have asked that workshops be held in the County to get input from the citizens and from the Town Boards to make sure that what is being included in this work plan meets the approval of the citizens and that no important issues have been left out.  Mr. Swanson said that this is the last meeting with other meeting having been held in Round Mountain, Tonopah, Beatty, and Amargosa.  One meeting was held previously in Pahrump.  This is the second meeting.  Based on the meetings and comments received, Tom Buqo will modify the report and then present it to the citizens of Nye County at two formal public hearings.  Following
